Non-Stimulant Approach to Treating ADHD in Children and Adolescents: Focusing on Underlying Causes

Understanding Underlying Causes:

At Fulton Family Psychiatry, our commitment to the well-being of children and adolescents with ADHD goes beyond prescribing medications. We believe in understanding the underlying causes oftheir attention and hyperactivity symptoms, often related to life stressors and anxiety to improve their behavioral health. Our non-stimulant approach, consisting of therapy, proper nutrition, exercise, stress management techniques, family involvement, and school collaboration, empowers our young patients to overcome obstacles and achieve their full potential. Together with their families, we embark on a journey towards improved emotional well-being and a brighter future.

Comprehensive Evaluation Process:

Our team of experienced telepsychiatrists and physician assistants conduct comprehensive everyday and back to school evaluations. We take into account the child or adolescent's medical history, behavioral patterns, family dynamics, and educational experiences. We collaborate closely with the young patient and their caregivers to gain a comprehensive understanding of their challenges, strengths, and goals.

Individualized Treatment Plans:

Once we have a comprehensive understanding of the underlying factors contributing to the ADHD symptoms, we create tailored treatment plans. Our non-stimulant approach may include a combination of therapeutic interventions, coping strategies, anger management, nutrition recommendations and lifestyle adjustments.

Family Involvement:

We recognize the crucial role that family dynamics play in a child's life. Involving parents or guardians in the treatment process is essential for building a supportive and nurturing environment. We provide guidance and support to parents, helping them develop strategies to assist their child effectively and mental health support for themselves as well.

Collaboration with Schools:

School plays a significant role in a child's life, and we collaborate with educators to ensure that the child's educational environment is conducive to their needs. By addressing academic challenges and implementing appropriate accommodations, we strive to create a positive and productive learning experience for your child.
