Certify Your Pet as an Emotional Support Animal

If you’ve ever felt that your pet provides more than just companionship (easing anxiety, helping with depression, or simply making hard days more manageable), you’re not alone. At Fulton Family Psychiatry, we understand how emotionally supportive animals can truly be. But when does it make sense to officially certify your pet as an Emotional Support Animal (ESA)?

What is an ESA?

An Emotional Support Animal provides comfort and emotional stability to individuals struggling with conditions like anxiety, depression, PTSD, and more. Unlike service animals, ESAs don’t require special training, but they do need a letter from a licensed provider.

Do You Need an Emotional Support Animal Letter?

If you need your animal to live with you in housing that typically doesn’t allow pets—or you’re seeking validation for the emotional role your pet plays in your mental health—an ESA letter may be necessary.

At Fulton Family Psychiatry, we offer online ESA evaluations in just one visit. Our team will:

  1. Assess your emotional health and need for an ESA

. Provide guidance and support

  1. Issue necessary documentation if you qualify
